I Still Set a Place for

[Verse 1]
Your blue mug waits beside the sink
A tea ring drying on the shelf
I turn it so the handle faces out
Then catch myself and laugh alone

[Chorus]
I still set a place for you
In the quiet of the room
Some days love is just the small things
I keep doing like you’re due

[Verse 2]
The coat you wore through April rain
Still holds a paper ticket stub
I found your note inside the pocket:
“Get the pears; the green ones, love.”

[Chorus]
I still set a place for you
In the quiet of the room
Some days love is just the small things
I keep doing like you’re due

[Bridge]
I don’t need the ache to leave
To know the good was real
I can miss you and keep living
Both are true, both are here

[Final Chorus]
I still set a place for you
Though the years keep moving through
Some days love is just the small things
And today I carried two

[Outro]
Your blue mug waits beside the sink
I leave it where it’s been
