Lost within the darkened forest

Lost within the darkened forest,
long forgetting all the world,
I fell into a trembling slumber,
‘til my soul was lost
in the shadows of the self.

Awakened, lying on this hillside,
I feel the grass beneath my skin,
the dew is kissing both my palms,
the sunlight gently strokes my face.
The wind is whispering distant echoes,
the heartbeat of the earth resounds within my chest,
my name is spoken softly on beloved lips.

This is peace.
This is happiness.
And my soul takes flight on weightless wings,
into the blue and white of the newborn day.
