There was once a misanthrope
who lived in a plainly furnished flat.
Nobody took much notice of him,
he was silent in a studious way.

Yet sometimes you saw him laugh,
madly, like someone in trouble.
If you talk to him gladly responsed,
gave a witty retort.

And after hitting the bars,
he didn’t come alone.
A girl, red cheeks, loudly he made fun
of existence.

She listened, fascinated and afraid,
wanted to say some thing.
With his carpet bombing
her questions went up in flames.
