Take your Time

[Intro]
[Warm bass, offbeat guitar, soft percussion]
Mm, yeah
We got a little time

[Verse 1]
You put your phone down next to mine
Pour something cold, put on a side
That old record with the worn-out sleeve
You know the one that always gets to me

The kitchen window’s open wide
We hear the neighbours passing by
You sing the words a little wrong
I like your version better all along

[Pre-Chorus]
You’ve been running since the morning
Let the evening settle in
Leave your shoes beneath the table
Let me see that smile again

[Chorus]
Take your time, take your time with me
Little by little, we got all we need
Turn it up, let the record play
Got a little loving left in this long day

Sway to the left, come back to me
Your hand in mine, moving easily
Take your time, take your time with me
There’s nowhere else I need to be

[Instrumental Break]
[Melodic bass, playful guitar, gentle brass]

[Verse 2]
We take our glasses down the stairs
Your favourite song still in the air
The corner shop is closing soon
You buy some mango, I carry it for you

We sit outside upon the wall
You tell a story, I forget it all
Watching you talk with both your hands
Then catching every drop before it lands

[Pre-Chorus]
We can leave the dishes waiting
We can take the long way in
With your shoulder resting on me
Let tomorrow wait again

[Chorus]
Take your time, take your time with me
Little by little, we got all we need
Turn it up, let the record play
Got a little loving left in this long day

Sway to the left, come back to me
Your hand in mine, moving easily
Take your time, take your time with me
There’s nowhere else I need to be

[Bridge]
[Half-time feel, intimate vocals]
Some days we barely say hello
Too much to do, somewhere to go
Tonight I get to hear you laugh
Come here and give me more of that

[Final Chorus]
Take your time, take your time with me
Little by little, we got all we need
Turn it up, let the record play
Got a little loving left in this long day

Sway to the left, come back to me
Your hand in mine, moving easily
Take your time, take your time with me
There’s nowhere else I need to be

[Outro]
[Extended reggae and afrobeats instrumental groove]
Take your time
A little more time with me
Mm, yeah
Let the record play
