Lyrics
[Instrumental Intro]
[Bright hand percussion, shekere, kalimba hook]
[Group claps enter gradually]
[No vocals]
[Verse 1]
Morning spills across the rooftops
Bare feet find the open ground
Someone starts a drum in the distance
Soon the whole street hears the sound
I came carrying yesterday’s worries
I came with a weight in my chest
Then the rhythm opened the windows
And the wind did the rest
[Pre-Chorus]
One step forward
Let the old road fade
Two hands rising
Feel the choice we made
[Chorus]
The earth is dancing under me
The sun is waking every street
I lift my heart, I set it free
The earth is dancing under me
Hey-oh, let the whole world feel it
Hey-oh, let the bright drums lead it
No walls around us, no fear to keep
The earth is dancing under me
[Instrumental Dance Break]
[Talking drum answers the lead percussion]
[Kalimba and kora-inspired hook]
[No vocals]
[Verse 2]
From the hills down to the water
From the market to the plain
Every voice becomes a colour
Every heartbeat joins the same
There is room for every story
There is space for every name
When we move together freely
We are never quite the same
[Pre-Chorus]
One step forward
Let the old road fade
Two hands rising
Feel the choice we made
[Chorus]
The earth is dancing under me
The sun is waking every street
I lift my heart, I set it free
The earth is dancing under me
Hey-oh, let the whole world feel it
Hey-oh, let the bright drums lead it
No walls around us, no fear to keep
The earth is dancing under me
[Percussion Break]
[Lead vocal calls; group responds]
Lead: Can you feel the ground?
Group: We feel it move!
Lead: Can you hear that sound?
Group: We hear it too!
Lead: Raise your hands up high!
Group: Let the morning through!
Lead: We are wide awake!
Group: We are coming through!
[Bridge]
I don’t need to carry
What I’ve left behind
I can meet the morning
With an open mind
Every step is saying
I belong, I’m free
Every drum reminds me
There is life in me
[Final Chorus]
The earth is dancing under me
The sun is waking every street
I lift my heart, I set it free
The earth is dancing under me
Hey-oh, let the whole world feel it
Hey-oh, let the bright drums lead it
No walls around us, no fear to keep
The earth is dancing under me
[Outro Chant]
Hey-oh, the day is rising
Hey-oh, the world is wide
Hey-oh, our feet are moving
Hey-oh, we’re alive
