Lyrics
Hello, my name is Kurt, and I come from the greatest country on the earth.
Yes, I believed it when my teacher swore it was "the truth" since birth.
In the '90s, they said, "Four-day weeks, we'll ease your load,"
But the extra day off got sent to Spain — "life's a bumpy road"!
In school, they said I was not the sharpest pencil in the case,
But I still dreamed big, aiming high in life's endless race.
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Here's the thing:
My religious teachers found out my single mom lived with a man — no ring.
So I got bad grades just for religion's sake.
It seems they had already decided my fate;
The "god's love" in their hearts was replaced by hate.
Years in school were not exactly smooth or kind,
I was bullied, and the teachers always turned a blind eye.
They never came alone; it was always in a pack,
But if one slipped up and came alone, I gave them hell and fought back.
I never wanted trouble, never sought to cause pain,
But when the fight was fair, I showed I could sustain.
After school, I thought the Army would give me a fresh start,
A chance to rebuild, to find strength in my heart.
I lost weight, gained muscle, and began to look good,
But that’s when the rumors started in my brotherhood.
