Text
[Intro]
[Church organ, grand piano, and violin; very slow, mournful, ten seconds]
[Verse 1]
In the silence of the night I see you
A faint light that refuses to fade
Trying to hold the shape of your memory
As the first grey morning fills the room
[Church organ, grand piano, and violin; very slow, mournful, ten seconds]
[Verse 1]
In the silence of the night I see you
A faint light that refuses to fade
Trying to hold the shape of your memory
As the first grey morning fills the room
Musikstyle
slow sorrowful chamber ballad, church organ and grand piano opening for ten seconds with sparse sustained violin, then a close-miked fragile aged voice with breathy restrained delivery; very slow pulse, minor-key harmony, intimate dynamics, sparse arrangement that gradually deepens without becoming bombastic, natural room resonance and warm understated mix
