Text
[Verse 1]
Kenny packed light
First trip, big heart
Waraberr calling
From the blue-green start
I watched you stand there
On the edge of spray
Tall as the pandanus
On a stormy day
[Pre-Chorus]
Hold that line, my son
Keep your head up high
Salt on your boots now
Fire in your eyes
[Chorus]
Kenny on Waraberr
(oh, Kenny on Waraberr)
Kenny on Waraberr
(strong in Torres Strait waters)
Carry your name home
Carry your light home
Kenny on Waraberr
We sing you through the foam
[Verse 2]
The boat cut forward
Past the reef and tide
You did not flinch once
You just looked inside
Old men were nodding
Women smiled your name
Said the boy has grown now
And the sea knows same
[Pre-Chorus]
Hold that line, my son
Keep your head up high
Salt on your boots now
Fire in your eyes
[Chorus]
Kenny on Waraberr
(oh, Kenny on Waraberr)
Kenny on Waraberr
(strong in Torres Strait waters)
Carry your name home
Carry your light home
Kenny on Waraberr
We sing you through the foam
[Bridge]
If the wind gets heavy
And the night runs long
Remember where you’re from
Remember you are strong
From my chest to your steps
From my prayer to your way
Waraberr will know you
Long after this day
[Final Chorus]
Kenny on Waraberr
(oh, Kenny on Waraberr)
Kenny on Waraberr
(strong in Torres Strait waters)
Carry your name home
Carry your light home
Kenny on Waraberr
We sing you through the foam
Kenny on Waraberr
(stand tall, my son)
Kenny on Waraberr
(the tide has just begun)

Musikstyle
Island reggae with a laid-back one-drop groove, palm-muted guitar skanks, warm bass, and syncopated percussion rolling like small water swells; verse stays intimate with close-mic lead and soft harmony pads, pre-chorus lifts with hand drums and rising vocal stacks, chorus opens with group doubles and a chantable hook. Sea-breeze fills, shell chimes, and a tide-like riser lead into each refrain. Mix is smooth, wide, and sunlit with a deep low end., smooth, reggae
