Horsell Common and the heat ray

Next morning a crowd gathered on the common, hypnotized by the unscrewing of the cylinder. Two feet of shining screw projected when suddenly, the lid fell off. A octopus like creature appeared upon the cylinder, and slowly floated down it used its tentacles like straws and started sucking the blood out of people. And then soon a green gram of heat came out of the cylinder it netting a green invisible heat Ray and started destroying everything whatever touched it. Nothing was safe in Horsell Common and the heat ray!
